WordPress is a flexible and economical solution for clients.
In the last year I’ve created websites for clients as diverse as artists, entrepreneurs and non-profits using WordPress. Consider the following new work case studies:
Overnight success for artist:
My friend, Carlos Pillado, approached me about creating a site for his artwork, fast. Carlos is 46, and is just identifying himself as an artist. He divorced a few
years ago and poured his passion into art—it gave him solace and freedom and I imagine it didn’t say nasty things to him either. He reluctantly had his first show this May with about 60 paintings. It was a block buster of a show with over 20 paintings selling. The calls starting pouring in from people who had missed the show and wanted to see what they missed.
Long story short, I put a site up for him in about three weeks. It uses WPFolio, which is a free WordPress theme for artists. We also wanted to include a slideshow on the homepage. Low and behold, I was able to find a JQuery plug-in that works like a charm. The nice thing about using existing themes and plug-ins is that it saves time and money—and yes, I passed the savings on to Carlos. The site was easily half the cost of what something like this might cost if you were to program form the ground up.

Famous author launches a new series.
Jennifer Solow is a New York Times best selling author who is starting a new teen book series. She asked me to create a site that would be: easy to self-manage, maintain the decent traffic her old Blogspot site was generating, have lots of things for people to see and do AND not cost too much, if you please. The site has fun things such as a quiz, YouTube video, and feeds for Flickr, Twitter and Facebook. It also has a secret page! Look for the diamond on the homepage, click it, and you will be taken to special content.
